PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme

With the aim of promoting the use of solar energy across India, the Central Government has launched the Solar Roof Top Subsidy Scheme. Under this scheme, the Central Government is encouraging the common citizens of the country to install solar panels on the roof of their house, so that they can reduce electricity consumption and use more solar energy.

The government is giving subsidy on installing solar panels. If you also want to use solar energy by installing solar panels at your home and want to avail the subsidy for this.

What is PM Free Solar Scheme?

The Indian government has launched Surya Ghar Vidyut Yojana under which solar panels will be installed on the roofs of consumers. These panels will generate electricity which will help in reducing the electricity bills of the consumers.

  • Panels will be installed on the roofs which will be on-grid, meaning whatever electricity the panel generates will also be connected to the grid, the house will run on the power from the panel and the remaining electricity will be put into the grid.
  • That is, instead of becoming an electricity consumer, every house will become a power plant, the advantage of which will be that the government will have so much electricity that it can provide electricity 24 hours a day, because every house will become a provider of electricity instead of consuming electricity.
  • The person who gets the panel installed will get the benefit that the number of units of electricity generated by his panel will be absolutely free for him. That is, if his panel generates 200 units of electricity in a month, then 200 units of electricity will be free for him, if he consumes more than 200 units of electricity, then he will have to pay the bill for only that much.
  • If someone saves electricity then the government will deposit the money for the remaining units in their account.
  • The government gives subsidy for installing panels, 90000 rupees for a 2 kW panel and 108000 rupees for a 3 kW panel. This subsidy is for the consumers of UP because the UP government gives a subsidy of 30000 from its side, in which 60000 rupees for 2 kW and 78000 rupees for 3 kW comes from the central government.
  • To get the panel installed, it has to be done online and after that the online document is downloaded and taken to the bank and money is deposited in the bank, in case of lack of money, the bank takes 10% of the total amount and makes EMI at 90%.
  • Online registration is done on pmsuryaghar.gov.in and the subsidy is transferred to the consumer’s account within one and a half months.
